I thought i'd post this here as I quite shocked to see the nastiness in a comp thread i'd posted. I felt so bullied that I decided not to post comps anymore...until I received a pm about it.
I don't post in here much as I don't enter that many comps , last won a prize in Aug 2009 (a Nokia) so didn't have anything to report.

I've no problem with people telling me to post answers as I post comps to help others (and me too if I enter them) so making it as easy as possible is common sense.
What I do have a problem with is posters making digs about newbies posting comps that "aren't theirs" and other tripe. I first posted comps under my old username (pm me for the name if you must) in 2007 and they were usually empire , CH4 or shortlist ones (the old name was Mansize) so such digs are misplaced , ungrateful ,and just rude:(

With all due respect to you Angelic, in no way was my post 'bullying' nor 'nasty' I just feel that if a member finds a comp, searches it, then searches the answers to post on the board, then that is the correct way to do things!

If I cannot find answers to a comp I'm posting, then, I'll ask folk for help.

I searched all the answers to that comp which you are referring to for around 1/2 an hour only to find on a second search, that you'd posted it without any answers whatsoever, and didn't amend your post with the answers, nor thank anyone for their help with the comp!

I just felt frustrated that you didn't edit the post with the answers, or even acknowegle the fact that folk had helped with the comp! thus making folk have to trawl through the thread to find the answers!

A long while ago I was 'told off' from a far more experienced member for not following up on a comp because I was busy looking at other threads on MSE, and have never forgotten that, so always keep a check on what I've posted since that day!

I really do not have issues with anyone posting comps on MSE, and if folk win from them then all well and good, in fact superb!

I personally always give credit to members who help me with answers to comps if I'm not able to find them! Maybe others don't (confused smiiley here!)

I do hope that explains things from my point of view... :)

I'd also like to wish Toni & wingo a very happy birthday for today, and hope they have both had a fabulous day... :bdaycake:

I'm with you on that nnw my life could do with a bit of spice and eye candy I am feeling particularly old tonight too. My eldest granddaughter had an interview today for her work experience week job at the local junior school time has just flown by it doesn't seem very long since I showed her mum how to bath her as they let her home early due to being Xmas Eve when she was born lol.

My old bones and stuff are really playing up tonight I think I overdid it on the game to win a footie that xemmax has entered for me today, fingers crossed it stays in the top . I can't thank her enough as the repititive movements ALWAYS plays havoc which is why I rarely enter the ones that involve a game.

Well, that's enough of the moans or I'll have everyone else on a downer.

It looks like you are all enjoying your chat, I will be off to bd shortly as I need to get up early (for me) tomorrow for my dgs to collect his pe kit ready for school. He starts at 8.20am.

Hope you have all had lovely days and won some good stuff. Off to have a quick look on twitter and facebook now. x

i didn't see any nastiness or bullying on the thread, it was just said that it doesn't really make sense to post a comp, especially one like that one without the answers, i've been here long enough, as lots of us have to know that them comps, goodfood, radiotimes etc, all require time to look & do the answers before posting, IMHO i can't see the point in putting a comp on like that without helping with the answers or asking for help with the answers :o
maybe some peeps might have the time or enjoy to find the answers themselves but then it could be said they don't have to look at the answers if they choose not to :)
anyone can post a comp, that's the easy bit, but think there's a difference between someone that also helps everyone by trying to provide the answers or asking for help makes a big difference, especially someone like you MD, you always try to make sure you've done everything right, including t&c's, answers, joining in with everything else, updating if needed etc, think thats what makes the difference :)
Angelic, i didn't mean anything untowards you, you post loads of great comps & am very grateful for them, but if we're all being adult & honest here them comps to me are a bit silly posting without any help for the answers :o bit like if i put my mag comps on & just gave the clues out or scanned all the puzzles for everyone to work out themselves IYSWIM :o
sorry to go on a bit :o but just wanted to explain why i felt the need to add to the thread,

ginjim - don't think anyone's being touchy, just a misunderstanding, personally i don't get the time to research the answers for them comps as usually busy researching the answers for the puzzle mags, that's why i'm always so grateful to the ops that post comps & the answers for those type of comps, if you or the other peeps have the time to DYOR that's great :) & maybe helpful for the comp being put on without the answers, suppose we all have our own ways :)
just hope we don't all fall out over it :)

has anyone been to pontins at southport?
the reviews are awfull on all the internet sites ive viewed.
but carers centre have offered me 4 nights there,
ive to pay my own food ...travel costs & spending money
dont want to go through all that & finds its rubbish
to us 'non paid carers' we need / want a nice break not a dissapointment
we need to take a loan for other costs anyway.

It WAS awful once, then it changed into student accomodation for a while for UCLAN, but I have heard nothing much since. I'm close and will ask around for you. I was a carer too until not long ago, a nice break is needed isn't it? Southport, that's a nice place, upmarket clean and should suit for a break nicely...close enough to other places to have a trip, Liverpool and Preston for example. I'd take some food if you are self catering, Southport may not be too cheap on that front.

You're right about the reports...awful online here and if the buildings are as they appear in the pics it's not changed in 40 years...externally at least. If you can get a choice, there's a Haven park at Beacon Fell, that's nice, and Ribby Hall Holiday Village lose to Blackpool is also nice....Haven probably costs the same at pontins so could work ? I won a week fully inclusive in Benidorm in what I am told is a really nice place, wish I could give you that..can't transfer it tho. :( I probably won't get to use it.

    I'll be back if I find out some info..if I don't remind me :)

I hate venturing into other threads now on here other than competitions, I always find someone throws a sarcastic comment whenever you ask something!

I used to love the Pontins in Blackpool but they shut it down. Apparently it went downhill & then the food was awful.
