Help wanted

Hi all

Not sure this is the right place to ask advice (mod's please move if not)

Company pay rises have been 3.75, 2.00 & 1.00 % from (07-08, 08-09, 09-10) which with the world as is I can't complain - however we have received a global email claiming that due "uncertain economic times" a low rise will help secure the company future. The was a company that declared

Key Data - 2009 Full Year results

2009 2008 % change
Revenue £3,970m £3,124m up 27.1%
Adjusted operating profit £229.7m £165.2m up 39.0%
Operating profit £212.1m £156.0m up 36.0%
Profit before tax £177.1m £136.1m up 30.1%
Adjusted earnings per share 29.53p 22.20p up 33.3%
Earnings per share 26.76p 20.49p up 30.6%
Dividend per share 6.25p 5.00p up 25.0%
Group free cash flow £137.3m £94.2m up 45.8%

2008-2009 was similar increase - Ok nice for the company - right my questions is

what is the net RPI/CPI for the period 2008-2010 - I don't begrudge the company doing well - that's why I work for them - I do begrudge having a 1% rise imposed when all indications are my hard work gives them a 36.0% increase in profits.

Before the flames start - yes I'am luck to have a job and any pay rise in these economic times should be good - just think me and my colleagues have been short changed this year.

Thanks in advance for you help and responses.

I guess one arguement they will say is what are their projected profits for the coming year? Sorry don't know ' what is the net RPI/CPI for the period 2008-2010.' What do I say its the coportate way of the life. I guess most of us who have been employed have felt the same at some point. I've always been a hired gun until recently when the decision was made for me. I am determined not to go back to that world. If you dislike it or keep questioning it why don't you consider starting a part time business and 'break away' ?

The biggest problem with yearly account they are only showing what has happened in the past, they bear little relation as to what is going on in the business now .
