Bl**dy FPC debt collections sending letters to my parents!

Oh help.
I'm on a DMP with CCCS but only in my 2nd month so things haven't settled down properly yet. Capital One have passed my debt to their own debt collection company FPC. I have written to capital one about my DMP with all the info etc etc but for some reason FPC have sent a letter to my parents address where I lived about 7 years ago saying they were having problems contacting me and that they had been informed that I was now residing there. I'm not!

What I am so worried about is that my parents don't know the extent of the mess I got myself into and I don't want them to know. Thankfully the letter that was sent to them only had a ref number on it and nothing else but I've had one from them before saying what it was for and how much.
My dad says he is going to ring them tomorrow and tell them I don't live there anymore. Will they tell him anything?! I have tried to dissuade him from doing that but he isn't having it and if I make a big deal out of it he will get suspicious.

What should I do?!

Legally they shouldn't discuss this debt with your father as it is not his debt. Could you telll your dad that you have written to them to complain and then get a letter to them giving your address and the date you moved there, just so that you have something in writing should they try sending anything else?

Thankyou, I will write to them again. God knows what they are playing at, I wonder why they decided to try my old address when I have sent my token payments etc to Capital one attached to letters with my current address on them.

Basically, they are harassing you by attempting to embarrass you in front of family.

Thank you for replying, Do you think it's worth trying to complain about it? Am just thinking that everything I have written to them so far has pretty much been ignored.

Not really my area of expertise. I have been fortunate in life and I have never had to deal with debt harassment. I can identify it, and understand the psychology behind the attack, but I have no direct experience of dealing with it. Someone may be along with some suggestions, otherwise do some searches on this forum for 'harassment' and similar and you may get more ideas

I'd complain about it. They shouldn't be discussing your debt with anyone else. That's confidential and surely data protection. Usual bullying tactics I'm afraid. I've heard of creditors ringing debtors' neighbours pretending to "have the wrong number"...to seemingly to "name and shame".

You can put that in a letter to them and see if they want to play silly burgers;)
If they only have your old address, I'd send them the" prove it" letter
