holiday inn £1000 deal question

hello, we have booked holiday inn, and all has been going great, but a change over in wedding coordinator has lead to confusions on prior agreement. we have had the summary through today after meeting with her last week that breaks down the costs, and a £1.50pp plating charge has been added, has anyone else had this? it was originally put down on our form as we were going to have cake served as pudding, but we arent now, just wanted to check whether anyone else on the deal has been told this, as if its for the meal, then we were never told.

The 'plating charge' is for serving your own cake, so give them a ring as it needs to be taken off as you are not serving your own cake!

We are having our cake served as pudding at the holiday inn and they didnt add that on for us...hmmm...

Many places do charge a 'plating' amount for serving your own cake, mainly to cover the lost profit from you not have 'their' pudding, it only doesn't tend to get added if your cake is as well as a pudding!!

thanks, think i didnt explain myself properly, they have added it on for the main meal, saying that because we are having food plated rather than buffet there is the charge, but we were offered the choice with no mention of a plating charge when we beeked, they then mentioned a plating charge when we talked about the cake, and wrote it down, now they are trying to use the fact that it is written down to charge us it for the main meal - even though it was written for a different reason.

anyhow, spoke to co-ordinator, and she says it is standard, but she is very nice and is seeing what she can do, as i explained the situation, and said that it was never mentioned to us, and theres been confusion in change over of co-ordinator. And even she acknowledged that we hadnt been given a proper breakdown of the costs at the beginning, so fingers crossed they will remove it. I wasd just wandering if anyone having the deal had had their meal plated and had been charged for this as when we booked it said 'meal for 30' not buffet for 30, and they have now changed that.

By the sounds of it they want to charge it for actually putting it on the plate for you ~ instead of your guests putting the food on their own plates.

Hope you get it taken off, if it wasn't mentioned to you when you booked, that's their fault as all costs should be mentioned at the time of booking/talking about the food.

Sorry Bubbles, I had misunderstood!! As Shellsuit says, it sounds like its because of the plating of the meals. Haggle that one away! Good luck!
