UPDATE -
Re Vodafone -
I just got off the phone to them.
The girl I spoke to, was offshore, and was just towing the company line, which is fair enough.
She said I wouldn't be able to lower my tariff, at all, until the end of my contract - that'll be Janary 2011 then!

I owe them about £109 I think.
Next have sold the debt on though, to "Debt Managers' / 'CallServe' ..Joy
Cheers,
Sim.

They have paid me £129.75 on 23rd April though, and not £130.90.
I know it's only £1.15 a week / £2.30 a fortnight, but I can ill afford to lose it at the moment!
Do you (or anyone?) know what date in April the Benefits went up? If it was the 7th or 8th then it could be your last payment was a few days at the old rate & some at the new?
Just a thought........
Best wishes!:mad: :j:D:beer::eek::A:p:rotfl::cool::):(:T0 -
Hiya jfdi
Yep, you've got it in one.
I checked yesterday, and realised that the slight shortfall, was probably due to when the DWP changed their rates -
The ESA was increased slightly on the 17th of April.
Thanks!0 -

Hi
I have just logged onto this forum and wished to take this opportunity to wish you all the best in your quest.
I am not sure on the issues with your mobile phone but this appears to be relevant, albeit complicated, and I am sure that others will be able to advise you better than I
http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/topic/52810-possible-to-downgrade-contract-switch-to-lower-tariff/page__p__348391__fromsearch__1s
It may be worth taking this one step forward with the company concerned, clearly if you deal with the front desk they have no remit to lower your bills etc, they are constrained by the limits of their authority.
I would suggest a letter to Vodafone explaining the circumstances, that you are now on income support, do not wish to default on your payments but currently are having difficulties in meeting the payments. If necessary offer to return the phone, they can then sell it on as a refurbished item
If they do not wish to take the back selling it would definitely be a wise option, whilst I understand that you have an attachment to it is it really a necessity. I use a 20 pound phone I bought from a supermarket, and lets be honest, I doubt you are using it to its full capabilities.
Stick with this site, it focuses the mind. I have one of the posts on here as the backdrop to my computer screen, everytime I turn on the PC it reminds me that there but for the grace of God go I (PS, I'm not religious)0 -

Hiya BLT,
Thanks for the best wishes!
Another MSE'r who works for Vodafone, has kindly offered to ask them for me.
I don't hold out much hope, from having a Google, as apparently, they don't lower any of the 'Your Plan' or iPhone tariffs
I may have to just add this debt to the others, and get a PAYG instead, as there's no way I can afford £45 a month for a mobile!
Thanks again,
