A couple of queries...

Hi all,
My discharge date came and went earlier this month but, upon checking the Individual Insolvency Register, i see the first page still records "Bankrupt" alongside my name but when i follow the link to the report it reads "Discharged on" alongside the status.
Simple question really, is that it?
I expected a fanfare and maybe a little hoopla (whatever that is) but found nothing of the sort, i have no payment order and last heard from the OR when the case was transferred, i would have called the OR office but they were never the most helpful bunch when it came to asking questions and i'd rather not poke the Lion tbh!
Also
It's just dawned on me that i didn't complete a tax return during my bankrupt year, i was previously self-employed and such things were taken care of by my accountant, i assume the OR would have informed HMRC of my bankruptcy hence i'm not currently in prison for non payment of tax but i'm a little unsure of how to proceed as HMRC are prone to dishing out fines if you forget things and i have no money! I'm wondering if it would be best to call them right away or leave it till next year and accept my slap then? I'm poking that Lion again!
Finally...
Just applied (online) for the Natwest Step Account, just wondered if anyone has any knowledge of the success rate for us discharged folk? I have a pal who is a pretty senior figure at Natwest, he oversee's the Branches & Managers, if needs be i can ask him to pull a few strings but i'd rather not burn a favour if there are other account options available?
Thanks guys, enjoy the BH weekend!

hi, Most OR's are helpfull, they just wont advise you what to do as they are not allowed to. with the tax return, you are not required to do one.Hi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
Please note that any views i put forth are not those of my former employer The Insolvency Service and do not constitute professional advice, you should always seek professional advice before entering insolvency proceedings.0 -
Thanks for that, had no idea regarding the tax return so that's very helpful, as for the OR... the last time i called them to ask a question i was told that they're not there to answer questions and to refer to the CAB... like i said, not the most helpful bunch.0

as i said, they are not allowed legaly to give advice so if you were to ask should i fill my tax return in they are not allowed to tell you what to doHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

I didn't make myself clear obviously; i was asking the forum about the Natwest Account and the Tax Return, i didn't actually think the OR would be interested in answering those particular queries... i would have called the OR to confirm if i really am discharged if they were more helpful, but they're not, so i didn't, instead i thought i'd ask the question on here as people are generally more helpful.
So - i still don't know if i'm discharged but calling the OR is a waste of time (i've tried but got told to go away) - i'd have thought that "am i discharged now?" would be something they could legally answer, apparently not.
I'll ask my pal about the Natwest account as nobody here knows judging by the response thus far.0 -
Then yes you are discharged, im sure if you asked them that they would give you a straight answer
on the Natwest account it is not clear cut, some people get them some dont, in recent months they seem to have been giving more accounts out. Generally we recommend the Co-op account and the barclays one as they have been consistant in their approachHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

yes this means you are discharged. print this off the web because this will disappear in 3 months. the OR doesn't tell you that you are discharged
if you are in an IPA this will continue for the full 36 months0 -
Hi all,
My discharge date came and went earlier this month but, upon checking the Individual Insolvency Register, i see the first page still records "Bankrupt" alongside my name but when i follow the link to the report it reads "Discharged on" alongside the status. Yup! this is correct. It will stay like that for 3 months and then disapear. I would get a copy of the page with your discharge on if you can, will be useful later.
Simple question really, is that it? Yup!

No need you are discharged, that is it unless you have an IPA (which you don't) or any other assets that haven't been dealt with yet.

Think that Nat West will reject your application with your bankruptcy still so fresh but there is no harm in trying.
Thanks guys, enjoy the BH weekend!

I'll ask my pal about the Natwest account as nobody here knows judging by the response thus far.
Just to add, do ask him what the Nat West's actual policy is for discharged and undischarged bankrupts is, as this would be very useful for members on hereHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
