Hi
I have 6 plums and 6 pears that will very soon be consigned to the compost heap if I don't think of something to do with them.
I've never cooked with either to know what to use them for and besides a puree, I don't have enough to make jam, and sooooo much homemade jam at the mo anyway that I don't fancy making any more
Any ideas? Or... can I freeze them for a day when I think of a use for them? If I can, do I need to part cook them or chop them or jut freeze whole?
Thanks very much guys

What about Eve's pudding?
Its basically any fruit in a oven proof dish topped with a sponge pudding mixture. Yummy served with cream or custard.
Fruit of your choice
40z self R flour
4 oz butter
4oz caster sugar
2 eggs, beaten
Gas mark 4 and cook for about 1 hour or until sponge is done.Rebel No 220 -

An eclectic fruit crumble or fruit compote?
Or if you've got a hell of lot of stuff in the cupboard - Pear, plum & almond tart0 -
Hi Shortie,
Some of the ideas on these older threads might help:

How about - pastry base, baked blind, peel and slice your pears and layer in the pastry, make a sponge mixture with ground almonds in it, cover the pears and bake. Pear frangiapane tart. Delicious.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

Cheers all. I think I'm taken on Eve's pudding at the mo. Could become handy to practice this one with the idea of local free fruits that are ripening around here too.
Ooo.... I'm dribbling already at all these ideas. Cheers again!April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
