Again, for what purpose?
(and OP is original posteriser)
Why are you so concerned as to my reason why I want this document?
Let me ask you
If you could not find a copy of your birth certificate, your contract of employment or maybe your loan or credit card agreement would you not seek a copy of it?
I would and that is why I would like a copy and not some unreadable photo copy that I have been sent.0 -

Hi Hairymarble,
Unfortunately this forum is full of people wanting to find any way they can of wriggling out of debt that they owe. i'm not saying that you are one of those people, but a common starting point for trying to wriggle is a standard "give me a copy of my agreement please" so OPs such as yours raises a few eyebrows.
Hopefully this experience hasn't scared you away from utilising this forum as there are many helpful people on here! We've spent decades teaching people about their rights, but nothing about their responsibilities.0 -
Hairymarble, it it's unreadable they haven't complied with their obligation. It must be readable.0

Surely I am entitled to see a copy of the agreement that I signed? As I said in my opening post "I can't find my copy" and not being the expert that some of you posters are I was not sure if what the lender is telling is correct or not, so what do you do if you don't know the answer? You ask somone, which it what I have done.
And for the record the loan is paid back in full in the summer so I am hardly looking for a loophole, so come down off your pedestal that you sit so highly on.
I am not judging you, however most posts with your opening gambit tend to be asking about not paying back a loan/credit card.0 -

If that was my goal then I can assure you then that is what I would of asked. I also appologise for my rant I was in a bad mood on Thursday so "Sorry"
Thanks to all those that replied but I must admit that I still fail to see as to why my request has rasied so many eyebrows and why it is such hard work getting a copy of the contract that I signed. I mean if the lender has a copy with my signature on it why not just send me a copy as per my request, why hide behind various acts in order not to send a copy unless you have something to hide.0 -
You admit that you lost the original.
That is your fault.
How would you like it if they charged you £80 or so for another copy - this is what would happen if you lost your passport and you wanted a new one.
What is wrong with the template one that they have sent you?0 -

What's your problem?
I admit that it is my fault and my fault alone that my copy is lost I have never said otherwise. If they said that the charge for sending out a copy will be £80, then I would have to consider if the cost was worth it not however they did not say that, they said the charge would be £1.00 which I duly paid.
With regards to the template copy what part of "It's hard to read in places" do you not quite grasp?
Again can someone please tell me why there is such stigma attached to my request to obtain a copy of the agreement that I entered into?
I.e A copy with my signature on it.0 -

Because despite your protestations.. everybody knows what you want it for.
It makes absolutely not one iota of difference if a copy of the agreement bears your signature or not...... unless you are jumping on the bandwagon of trying to avoid the repayments and/or trying to claim all your previous payments back.
There are more than enough people on here who consider the repayment of debt a given priority..... that's why your question is receiving the responses above.
You lost your copy, they lost theirs...... WHAT'S THE PROBLEM???Beware of imitations e.g. Robert Sterling0 -

The stigma you mention is because s.77 has been used and abused by hundreds of posters on here over the last few years (encouraged, I have to say, by those with their own axes to grind against the lending industry) who have been taken in by the hype that they can somehow walk away from their commitment is the lender does not provide a copy of the original.
Such a selfish attitude quite understandably raises the heckles of those who understand the relationship between the levels of bad debts caused by irresponsible borrowers and the levels of interest rates paid by everyone else.
I am not saying that you are in the above category, just explaining the reason why this is such a sore subject.
This has all been clarified in court now and the lender is quite within their rights to provide a reconstituted copy. If you cannot read it then by all means request a clearer copy. If this end up being a clearer reconstituted copy then so be it.0
