Form filling

I rang CAB today to see when they could see me to fill out bankruptcy forms and was told the earlist was 27th May!! then eventually they offered 11th May. But to me this is too far away, I have it in my mind I want to start this straight away, especially now I can access the fees.

Do you recommend filling the forms out yourself or waiting till I get the right help?

they looked quite daunting when I saw them yesterday but im off tomorrow and will go over them with my husband. I need to move forward as Im not sleeping at the mo and putting it down to stress.

Also another question - what effect will it have if I have been using my cards up to applying for BR? (I just read on another thread about submitting last 3 statements in)

you should really stop using credit cards as soon as you start thinking about bankruptcy, it is clear at this point that you will not be paying the money back so would be wrong to borrow more

    Loopy...Hi.
I asked my OR jokingly about how I wished I'd maxed out on the considerable unused balances on my cards before my BR. Her voice was totally deadpan. "That would have been fraud" she said. "We would not have let it pass...there would have been severe repurcussions, at least a 10 year BRO".

CAB? why not look around your locality. Most areas have community based local charitable advice centres. They're not just for the downtrodden....anyone can use them. They do a brilliant face to face job and advise on housing, benefits and insolvency amongst other things. They can usually help with form filling, court appointments and MOST IMPORTANTLY can legitimately provide the impartial debt advice the judge will be expecting to see when you have your day in court. (or 3 minutes in court if it was like mine!)

It's true that the forms are relatively simple (try a DLA claim form!) but there are a few thing it's critical to get right. The clerks at court will check what they can on the court side of things ie the petition itself and declaration but they don't have the time or inclination to check your SOA. If you get that wrong don't worry too much...the OR will go through it at your interview and will simply ask for clarification if there are any obvious problems. Just be TRUTHFUL and frank...that's what they really want more than anything.
Good luck! Keep checking these forums out. They are possibly the most helpful thing you'll have throughout the process. You'll find the odd troll but 99% on here have been through the mill and appear here still in one piece ready to help in any way they can.

Have a go at doing them yourself, if you get stuck come on here and ask, that's what I did and it was fine.

I did mine and hubby's and there was no problems when we got to court.
