Hair dye question!

Hi folks
I wonder if anyone can help with this..
I have natural dark blonde hair that I dye with nice and easy 101 (light blonde) and have done for years. I fancy a change now though, and thought I would try a shade of brown. Can I just apply a brown dye on top of the one already have on? or do I need to grow out my other dye first. (I hope not as I have long hair

No it will go green and ashy.
I expect you'll get a lot of people telling you to go to the hairdressers and under no circumstances to do it yourself. However I have gone from very light bleach blonde to dark rich brown and back again myself and it's always looked great. When I go dark I've always used a red colour first and then the brown. This adds the red tones in to counter any green and warms it up to avoid the grey/ashy look.
I know that there is a risk of damage to the hair and it might not work for everyone butif you are determined then you must, must, must use red first. And go for a lighter brown than you think you want as it will look darker.
It's worth playing around with some strands to see what it looks like before you take the plunge.0 -
Normally if you want to go from blond to brown you need to go red first.
Me being me, didn't do this and went straight from platinum blond to a light brown. It worked fine for me, hth.0 -
thanks Vicki, I would never have thought to use the red dye first! Do you have to leave a gap between dying, eg, have red hair for a week
? before you add the brown? 0 -
No I just dried it off and did the brown usually, but sometimes had a while as a redhead just for variety!0
