Just got my credit report.

I just got my credit report from credit-expert and I'm a bit suprised - theres some stuff not on there that I think should be showing (my current utility supplier, the problems I've had with rent, plus my old Lloyds credit card and my current overdraft).

Theres also a CCJ  on there that I don't recognise. Its for an amount that could possibly be something I had with Barclays years ago, except the Barclays amount is slightly different, showing under defaults - I'm guessing it wouldn't show under both defaults and CCJs? The CCJ is from 2004, I haven't made a single payment to it because I don't even know what it is, or where I got it from.

I'll be querying that I guess, although at the moment I'm in no position to pay a CCJ, especially if the amount was worked out while I had a fairly good job.

My other concern is the defaults - some of them are for small amounts, is, say 3 defaults better than 5 (because you paid two off), or is it better two have 5 defaults showing very small monthly payments (small meaning a token 2 quid payment a month on a debt of a thousand pounds).

I've had my 'lightbulb moment' and I have no intention of taking out extra credit in the forseeable future, but I would like to start repairing my credit rating now, so that should my health ever improve to the point I can get a job, I could get a mortage. It seems crazy paying 250 quid a month rent for a horrible council flat when my friends live in a nice place a few miles away that costs 150 on a mortage.

Any advice appreciated.

Firstly my overdraft isn't on my credit report. Can't answer about utilities though! Guess they only will be if you require a credit search to get them!

As for your old Lloyds CC how long ago did you have it? Did you close the account or keep it open?

Don't really know about the defaults and with the CCJ I would have thought you would have received some sort of documentation?

    Thanks for the response.

I had the credit card about 3 years ago. The account got closed when I lost my job, it got bundled into some payment arrangement thing that Lloyds set up, but they kept demanding I pay more and more every few months *fume*.

As for the CCJ, I honestly have no idea what its about - I have gotten lots of letters threatening court action if I don't pay XYZ amount *right now* but never anything that was really from the courts. I don't recognise the company (its a debt collection agency) or the amount - unless its the Barclays amount with a bit added on, but in that case why is it on the report twice?

Best thing to do is get copies from Experian & Equifax - different banks use different ones.....then see where you are up to re utilities (mine aren't on my Credit Expert report either apart from mobiles) etc ;)
