Refused Credit...Help!

Hello
This is my first post, I hope someone can give me some advice.

My wife and I today have been refused credit for £2500 for a fitted kitchen.

I have checked my credit report using Experian, it shows an old "debt" I still owe of £68 to Singlepoint (now Vodafone) and a big red 8 showing I have defaulted. I'm sure that I have nothing outstanding to these because it was a PAYG mobile paid by monthly DD which I duly did until I cancelled sometime in 2002.

How do I go about getting this off my report? I'm sure I was paid up in full before I cancelled but have no evidence, as I've thrown everything away (bank statements/bills from Singlepoint/letters of cancellation etc.) and they have never ever asked me for any money!!

What can I do?

Thanks
biggingerone

i'd contact the company directly to ask them of details of the debt stating that you had never been contacted regarding it.

did you move house after cancelling it? my thought being that since it was cancelled you'd have not notified them, but they may have been trying to contact you there.
  • Thanks lynsayjane, i'll give them a call. No i've never moved, i took the contract out whilst living here.
