I'm with Hastings Direct told them i was BR and they said it didn't matter! (I am paying by DD but you can pay all of it at once too!!) :-)

Direct line don't have any clauses in their t&c's re Br, and don't ask about when you get a quote either so should be ok.0

i think you should be ok because if you stop paying then the cover stops so you dont owe anything apart from possibly and admin fee and if you intend to pay up front i cant see there would be any problem0

We are with Admiral. They dont rate on BR so no problems there. When I got their renewal price, I went online to the comparison websites and got a cheaper quote through Elephant.co .uk. I rang Admiral back and asked them to match it, apparently Elephant are a sister company so they checked the quote was for the same cover etc and gave it to me at the cheaper price.
I ended up saving £50. Paid it all in one go, not DD.

The majority of major insurers dont ask about br for motor insurance and the 3 companies ive come accross that brokers use for collecting dd's dont credit check its a straight acceptance as well. Aviva will credit check as part of there "lifestyle checks" but that will just mean they are uncompetative to be honest.
Home insurance is different and the question is asked and some insurers will decline off the back of it but there are still a large number that wont penalise.
I would as I always do recomend a local broker as they can do a bit of shopping around for you and have the expertise to answer any questions you might have on the matter.0 -

Not BR...yet!
I insured my car with Aviva and, while it was dearer than some on their website price, I went through Topcashback to get £70 cashback, which made it cheaper.
Just a small point. When you go through comparison sites on to an insurers website, double check all the details. When I was renewing, I noticed that some of the cheaper insurers had slightly different details than I had entered in the comparison site, thus potentially making the insurance void.
TW - why do they ask about BR for home insurance? Is it because they think you might make a false claim? My insurer, KwikFit asked about BR.0 -

Aviva will undoubtably be dearer post BR as they credit check which with a BR on record will mean dearer premiums, thats just the way they have decided to go. As a broker to get a premium from Aviva I have to ask my clients if they wish to go through a credit check.
BR on home insurance will be more down to claims history than anything else. Any question thats asked on a home insurance or any insurance for that matter goes towards ascertaining risk and those insurers that will not insure someone BR will have had bad claims experience. Insurers also share claims data so I would guess historically those who are BR claim more. Now some of you will read this and think no way im not going to be likely to claim but remember these questions are not really about you its about whats happened in the past to warrant insurers asking for this information.
Incidently I will always recomend speaking to a broker for one yes im a broker and of course advocate our use but also I am aware form my own systems that I have 5 or 6 insurers that do not penalise for anyone who is BR0 -
Stevemarsh1976, I dont suppose your company is anywhere near Essex,i need a good broker, other issues with car insurance aswell.0

No im not sorry and not touting for business in anyway so wont say where im from to eleviate that.
A look in the yellow pages or yell.com should find you a local broker (not swinton), certainly if you have other issues speaking to someone with good knowledge is recomended rather than online or a sales person in a direct company.0
