How to get around rip-offs!

I have started this thread as a newbie so apologies if im in the wrong place! :o

Ever sit at you desk and get that niggling need for fizzy pop, crisps and chocolate??? Your company have kindly located a vending machine just outside you office for these very moments, how very nice of them..........or not!

The temptation from vending machines at work is unbeliveable and just the other day i found myself paying 75p for a can of pop and 50p for a pack of 3 jaffa cakes!!!!!

This is a place where we can hopefully share the latest 'vending stories' have a giggle but at the same time share tips on beating the habit, such as good offers on the same products in supermarkets etc.

Rant away.........

Some are a rip off, but my work vending machine sells bottles and cans of coke for less than the nearby Boots/Tesco/Sainsburys!

Same for some choc bars. That's a bad thing - if they were more expensive I wouldn't buy so many :p

Try working for a supermarket when on night shift break seeing that a product you just put out downstairs is more in the staff canteen. I take sandwiches from home but a perfect example is downstairs can of red bull was (not sure if its still this price) £1.05....Staff vending machine £1.15 (ok so i get 6 cans of 'red thunder' from Aldi at £1.50 every week).
Hi there! We’ve had to remove your signature. It was so good we removed it because we cannot think of one so good as you had and need to protect others from seeing such a great signature.

One of our sections at work runs it's own honesty tuck shop and I just wander over the offiice and check out the chocolate tin in the fridge. Walkers crisps are 11p and chocolate bars normally around 15p to 25p

The people who look after it, check out all the offers in the shops at buy what ever is on offer.

Or, I stash chocolate under my desk after buying the 5 bars for £1 offers in Tesco.

I would never dream of buying anything from the tuck shop at work any more.

I wanted a coffee a Alton Towers last week and when I saw the price £2.50, so £5 for me an the OH! I walked away and said, "£5 will buy dinner for one of us, I'll go without".

We also buy big packs of fruit shoot (when on offer) for the kids to take with us when we are out in the pubs etc., No way I want to pay £1 to £2 for a kids drink, when we can buy a pack of 6 for a bit more.
I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 2010
