Unfortunately any rules that come into affect dont seem to fall into place where i work as they have thier own set! If i decide not to have holidays that's my prob i MUST take them..is that what you are saying?
Yes!
That's what I put on the last post on your other thread.....it seems that they have worked this out now as well0 -
I'm on a casual contract at a pool where i work part time. I don't get holiday leave, but every 3 months i get paid extra pay for holiday leave. I don't see anything illegal in that .."No likey no need to hit thanks button!":pHowever its always nice to be thanked if you feel mine and other people's posts here offer great advice:D So hit the button if you likey:rotfl:0

why would you not want the 20 days holiday per year (in your case this equates to 20 hours as you do 2 hrs a day plus bank hols) and you will be paid for this? i cannot understand the logic behind this - plus of course it is illegal as you have to be given holiday. plus how would christmas day and the like work - would you just in and do 2 hrs then as well?
as for the other part of this if you have chosen to work 1.7 hrs for example instead of 2 I am surprised you even have a job as you should be there on the dot for the set period of time. and if you were worried you had not done enough just do a couple of minutes either side of the times to be on the safe side.0 -

i am self employed hence i do not get holiday pay but thats entirely different. if you are employed by an employer you have to be given holiday.0 -

You might not, but the law in the EU/UK does!
BY LAW YOU HAVE TO HAVE AT LEAST 5.6 WEEKS LEAVE PER ANNUM.
IT IS NOT DISCRETIONARY!I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair0 -
OK was going to try and reply to each one but will try to cover all points here!
Ok i work 6-8am..this is why i dont want the holiday pay as it does not affect my day at all..if we are away then i would notice it (but the idea is to save the extra up to cover me) and i can always make the time up. Being so early i dont notice it even if i have a day off as go in then do what i want if i have the day off. Last year and the year before i struggled to take it off and the same is happening now..i have poss a week in the summer and thats it..this is why ide rather be paid it.
I rung my boss this morning..she advised that as i am doing 2 and 3/4 hours per morning and not 2 this is why they have not paid me my new higher rate with holiday included..i said that was fair enough BUT it would have been nice to let me know BEFORE pay day so i knew and we would have had time to sort it out..the difference was £50 this month. The poor woman in accounts has no idea what is going on so had no choice to pay me my normal rate which i understand.
I asked what happened if i just do the 2 and /34 hours and she said they would now base my holiday pay included with my pay based on this (if i do 2 or more fine)..she will get back to me with a figure..this will then be backdated..BUT tbh i can see it being minimal as was only 50p difference an hour last time so we will see..i may revert back to the holidays at this rate as not worth it imo. I know everyone will say i get paid the same in the long run but the extra a month is of more use to me than days taken off because i have to.
I guess the whole thing is niggling me due to having an incling the other staff get more than me and do the same job, they have been at the co for a few months and came in privately..and me 11 years. The fact i am reliable (if a little late some days although it is only me and 1 other person 4 days of the week which is fine!) seems irrellevant and my loyalty stands for nothing so it seems..the fact i have not had a proper pay rise in almost 2 years annoys me. I am the only member of staff who bends over backwards for them and that has now stopped as dont see why should bother when there is no give and take. They know i do a good job still and nit pick over a few pence per hour..grr!
We had an interview for a new person..never turned up..second day never showed..they are a long line of repeats with the job..i think they should be grateful for the reliable staff they have but nope!
Will see what they come back with.0 -
