Challenges?

Good morning,
I have just found this fantastic website this week and I was wondering how, when, who, why, what and where you get all the information for joining challenges and clubs etc?
I feel this would give me even more incentive to be debt free in 4 years as I am quite a competitive person (sometimes good, sometimes bad?!)
I have read about £3000 challenge and my husband and I are discussing details as we speak!
I am now going to save any £2 coin I get to join the £2 Savers Club. Is this correct?
Sorry if I sound stupid but I would really like to join in with this as there is nothing better than a challenge to get me off my backside to keep persevering!
Many thanks.
PS. My lightbulb moment was back in July 2006 after counting up debts and realising they were over £80000!

hey welcome ..there are so many great challenges on allthe threads and i'm positive no one will hav problems with you joining any ...just be careful you will find you start to get addicted to them ..i'm not even in the £2 club ..but i ask for change in £2 coins wherever i go now ....and get down when i don't get any lol ..a good one to join is the grocery challenge started by lynzpower and loopyloulou ...i'm not brave enough for the £3000 challenge yet i think i'm gonna build up to that one ..good luck what ever challenges youdecide to give a go they are very motivating0

Just join in. Search the boards for the challenges and just post on them. People will make you welcome and you will learn a lot at the same time. I would suggest that you don't need to read all of every thread, ie £2 coin saves now runs into thousands of posts. Sometimes it is good to just follow a couple of prolific posters and see how they have done over the last year or so.
It is ultimately up to you what you do, but get inspiration from others and let them know what you are doing, passing on inspiration to others, yourself.
Good luck
PS Just noticed your signature. You are doing great already. Well doneDebt at worst: £33000

How does the grocery challenge work?

Don't forget the 20p Coin Savers CLub! Treat yourself to a tube of Smarties and then save as many 20ps as you can! From my experience and from the reading the £2 Savers Club Thread, some people are having difficulty getting £2 coins! So 20ps might be a good start! I have over £6 in my smarties tube and there's room for plenty more!

For the grocery challenge, work out what you normally spend on groceries and try to gradually reduce it. You can either do this weekly or monthly depending on how you shop, when wages come in, etc.
It is not just how much you spend, but what you spend it on that is important.
ie, bin takeaways, cook from scratch, use cheaper ingredients, shop around (if you have the time). There are plenty of tips on here to provide cheap meals. For example, last night, not very DFW, we had a pizza each from ASDA. 3 of us at nearly £2. £6 total. The night before I threw together 1lb mince, 2 onions, garlic, two tins smart price chopped tomatoes, chilies and pasta shells. Baked in oven for 40 mins, grate cheese over top and bake for 15 mins more. Worked out at about 35p per portion and did dinner and two lunches the next day.
It doesn't all have to be lentils and 7p noodles.:jDebt at worst: £33000

I'd second Queen Bess's advice about visiting the old style moneysaving board...its great. I've certainly saved lots from using everyones tips.
i.e....(old style money saving advice) ....ditch the baby wipes...use cotton wool and water and washable flannels for faces instead of using wipes. Have you thought about washable terry nappies? Sometimes you can pick them up from your local FREECYCLE. Bulk bake, use a slow cooker, make your own bread, cheap meals etc. etc.
All the best!

Excellent! I have just got my first £2 coin!
I could do the 20p club as well as the £2. Think of the savings that would be!
I will visit the Saving Money Old Style and see what I can find.'
The flannel tip instead of wet wipes is brilliant - sometimes you can't always see the wood for the trees!

How about doing the store cupboard challenge for the rest of this month? It would give you such a boost if you made the £200 target.0
