How can you vote for someone when you don't know what your voting for (as they wont tell us!)....
I suppose it's a toss up as to which party seems the least dishonest. Only one has a recent track record and it couldn't be more disingenuous if it tried!
ETA: Didn't Brown offer a referendum before going ahead with any electoral reform? Well, he's dangled that one infront of us before and retracted it later. Does he really expect anyone to believe him?

If one party did it, it would gain some respect from a very small percentage of the population. But they would be absolutely lambasted by the other parties, who would take their votes quite easily.
I think there should be independant assessment of the financial state of the country then all major parties should set out clear & summarised proposals in a prescribed format to recover the situation. These proposals should then be subject to independant professional scruity and comment.0 -
How do you express the shortfall in terms which register with most people.
Imagine someone who takes home say £1,500 a month after tax. How do they equate a figure like £69bn to the amounts of money they are used to?
You tell them that the government overspend is about £3k for each and everyone of them. So, can they imagine what would happen if the government were only to spend what it earns, and therefore each year take two of those 12 monthly pay packets to make up for its profligacy? Oh yes, that's 2 per person. So a family of 6...
