Best moisturising shampoo/conditioner?

Hi

My hair can get quite dry (probably because I dye it :o), so I need to use a gentle/moisturising shampoo and conditioner. I used to love Lee Staffords foaming shampoo stuff, but he seems to have stopped it. I'm using Aussie Miracle Moist shampoo and conditioner at the moment, which isn't bad, but I wondered if there was anything better out there?

Thanks

Gwenx

Waitrose/John Lewis do their own one, literally called Moisturing Shampoo, around £4 a bottle but a little blob goes a long way so a bottle lasts for months. It contains natural oils (almond and geranium) and my hair is noticeably sleeker after use. For me it’s nothing short of a miracle, my hair does curl and get frizzy. I swim regularly too so my hair gets a fair hammering.

I don’t need to apply a conditioner after use either so that justifies the cost to my mind. (I think Aussie is 2 for £6 when on offer by comparison).

Have you tried using coconut oil on your hair? I leave it to soak for a while before shampooing out. The coconut oil thread might help you out.

The Brilliant Blonde/Brunette shampoos and conditioners are really good.

Phillip Kingsley Elasticizer, put on and leave on for 20 mins plus and you will notice the difference!

Costs quite a bit (QVC have it, John Lewis have it and its more expensive on ebay) but if you can get someone to buy it for you or can afford it yourself I'd really recommend it. I got given a free sample last year from JL and so far I have not found anything cheaper which matchs the effects.

I can only use moisturising S&C. My favourites in order of price. I alternate using these.

    Herbal Essence hello hydration
    Bodyshop Honey S&C
    L'Occitane repairing S&C

    Thanks for the replies.

Yesterday, I went into the Body Shop and got their Olive glossing shampoo and conditioner. I was going to get the honey one after someone suggested that, but the woman said it might be a bit heavy for my hair. Today, I was in John Lewis and had a look for the Waitrose ones and got them. Lots of new stuff to try :D

I have used coconut oil on my hair in the past and it was great, but I'm not sure where to get it from anymore (I used to get it from Superdrug and last time I looked they didn't do it anymore).

I've tried the Brilliant Brunette stuff and Herbal Essences and while I don't hate the Herbal Essences I don't think it's great either. My hair ends up in a tangly mess quite often after I've used that.

I might have a look on QVC for that Elasticizer stuff :D

    Thanks

Hey Gwen, I just ordered some coconut oil from akoma I think it's called (saw the site on the freebies thread - got a couple of samples), seems to be a decent site. Think you can also get it online from Lloyds Pharmacy. I'm interested to see what it does for my hair

  • Trichomania by Lush is amazing, and lasts forever. It's a solid one, you buy it as a bar and it's lovely especially because of all the creamed coconut :)

Most shampoos have SLS (an industrial degreaser ) in them which I find dries my hair out. I use Schwarzkopf BC Bonacure Colour Save shampoo and conditioner which are SLS free and my hair has never been better, hairdresser always comments on it too!
