    I would imagine that Clapton meant that if the OP was female it would be likely that a state pension would also be payable which would mean the tax code would be altered to take that into account rather than any sex discrimination.

    Yes sex-discimination still exists there.
    The only thing that is constant is change.

    Yes but not within the tax system.

    Men pay national insurance on earned income to age 65, women only to age 60. Although this is rising with womens state pension age to 65 it will be a good few years before the discrimination is removed and it will be even longer with a Tory government as they intend to raise the male retirement age to 66 ahead of the already planned date when 66 would have become the age for both sexes.
    National insurance is not paid on pension income regardless of your age.
