Greasy Hair

Hi, I have a problem, my hair seems to go greasy like literally a few hours after washing.

At first I thought it was my shampoo - I was using green timotei at the time, so I bought some Asda version of head and shoulders, the first time I used this it made my hair shine a treat and I was impressed, but then the next time I used it, my hair goes really greasy really fast.

Thinking it was maybe because of it being cheaper quality, I bought some VO5 (called elixir or something) hair is still going greasy just as quick, it'll go greasier quicker if I touch it or play with it, but even if I don't touch it its still greasy so quick.

I've also tried Dove and still had the same problem and I'm having to wash my hair everyday.

Is the fact I'm washing my hair everyday making it more prone to being greasy? I'm not sure what other shampoos to try, the only shampoo I've seen purely for greasy hair was citrus head and shoulders that didn't really work for me.

Thanks for any help

Here's a thread that I started on a similar topic. It might be useful.

I now use Boots own baby shampoo. Brilliant stuff and confirms what others say about shampoos which weigh one's hair down,

My hair is usually normal to a bit frizzy, but a couple of years ago it seemed to be greasy and getting progressively more greasy, and my usual shampoos didn't help at all. Lush's shampoo bar Jumping Juniper was recommended to me, and it worked brilliantly. Once I'd finished the shampoo bar, I went back to my shampoos for normal hair, and I've not had a greasy hair problem since.

My hair is greasy too. To keep it under control I use a really mild shampoo, like baby shampoo or Lush Daddyo shampoo (which my hair seems to really like) then rinse loads with warm water(not too hot or it stimulates more oil production). I'm temped to try a vinegar rinse as that is supposed to help -i'll let you know how I get on.
Is your hair greasy (at the roots) or just lank and lifeless? If it is greasy it may be worth looking at your diet -mine is helped when I take hair/skin/nail vitamins. Lifeless hairmay mean you are not rinsing your hair enough or using too harsh a shampoo.
I'm not a trichologist though -I'm sure someone will come along soon with a good idea to help.:)

  • Lush's Jumping Juniper shampoo bar is excellent for greasy hair, and very good value as it lasts between 80-100 washes. I Love Juicy is also brilliant and you won't need a conditioner with it. And before anyone asks, yes I do work for Lush but have used the products for 10 years and only worked there 7 months :j

My mums been a hairdresser for 40+ years and she says that greasy hair shouldn't be washed daily!

*Use shampoo that's clear looking, not like a cream

*Use very little shampoo, per wash

*DO Not rub/scrub/massage hardly to your scalp! Just light massage movements on tips & head of hair.

*If u use a conditioner, again use very little and just to the ends

*Apply a serum liquid to towel wet hair and massage into hair before blow drying or using straigtners

    Hope this helps :A
