Any good family days out over May weekend?

Options
We would normally be away this weekend but this year we're home and wondered if there was anything on anywhere apart from the Marathon?

Kids are older 12 & 17 so nothing involving facepainting and clowns lol

Had thought of just surfing (them not us) on the Mon if surf decent but open to any ideas.

Thanks :j

Not sure how applicable to your kids ages, but Shanes Castle Steam Rally is on this Sunday and Monday, usual collection of old tractors steam engines etc but they also have a funfair, birds of prey, blokes driving round in German soldier outfits on WW2 style bikes with sidecars and reenacting, market stalls, motorbikes, and its on the shores of Lough Neagh, so nice place for a picnic if the weather manages to be good!

You can do some outdoor type sports at Castlewellan Forest Park - we took our 2 kids canoeing on the lake there and they had a ball. They also do climbing and archery and orienteering.

the festival of fools in on in belfast this weekend. Its great fun for all ages unless you have grumpy embarrassed to be seen in public with their parents teenagers. In which case give them 20 quid for the weekend and go out and enjoy yourself.

Steam rally is a good day out if the weathers grand, bit of advice though. If you know someone from Kells/Broughshane/Ahoghill take them along to translate, some of those auld boys talk at a million mph
