TESCO pack splitting....

My local Tesco are currently selling 4x330 cans of Stella for £1.25
I found the last pack and purchased at this price and made a note of the barcode, and then checked the barcode on a can inside a 24 can pack, they were identical.
So i figured rather than paying the full price which was around the £15 mark for 24 cans i would remove the packaging and purchase them as 4 packs - which were contained inside.
However the member of staff restocking the shelf a little further down the aisle told me i wasnt allowed to do this and that if i wanted to purchase them i had to pay the full pack price?
Obviously in most cases buying in bulk reduces the cost of the individual item but i just wondered if anyone knew what Tesco store policy was in cases like this.

LOL...love it...You're not supposed to do that and the staff won't let you but how ingenious... You can't do it because the computer will have no idea what's going on it'll reorder 4*330ml cans thinking there is none on shelf and it'll think that the 24*330ml boxes are still there when the stocktake is done it'll think they have been nicked.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

What if you don't care what the computer thinks, you could do it then.it'll reorder 4*330ml cans thinking there is none on shelf
it'll be right too, as the OP had just bought the last one.and it'll think that the 24*330ml boxes are still there when the stocktake is done it'll think they have been nicked.
Ah, the poor computer, what will it do? Probably whatever it does when things actually are nicked.0 -
You might find that customer services would have given it to you at the price for 6 x 4*330 if they hadn't got any of the offer cans left. Worth asking!"Sealed Pot challenge" member No. 138
