Hi, thanks to all for your best wishes-it does feel really good to wake up that first morning after paying everything off! Who cares if its raining!!
I have learnt so many things from Martin's book :money: and this site, with all you on it. When you start trying to cut things down you think, £2 here, £5 there will not make that much difference, so i made a spreadsheet and wrote everything down...and it was amazing to see the numbers gradually change in front of you..that was incentive enough! It became very addictive. I had already saved money when baby #2 arrived-reused b#1's vests, babygrows, cot, etc, have always used re-useable nappies and bought b#2 'new' clothes from Ebay (she was growing out of stuff every 3 months, why buy new??). We got rid of our SKY and got freeview instead, had already changed energy suppliers but the biggest thing was cutting down our food budget. That was where most of our money was going, even though i frozen every extra batch of food i could! It is lovely not to see 'Tesco' or 'Hall Farm Shop' on my bank statement, on every other line!
Finally (sorry to go on!!), i have also learnt:
1. Complain...it could get you extra pennies in compensation!
2. Take away hubby's credit cards!
3. Do not let hubby drive the car...that is where most of the money came from to pay back debts after getting paid out when he had an accident!
Thanks EVERYONE!!!;)
