I should be saying how fantastic I am, because I was right that we would not make a loss on the deal.
However, it is not a profit or loss until you actually sell the shares.
Many a slip between cup and listing on the stock market.
So, I will wait until we see the cash before declaring my genious. As should Mr Darling, who is a mufter in any case.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Yeah, there will, but how much of the dividend is actually clear profit or loss? Very little. Because the money to buy these organisations was borrowed, it incurrs quite a large opportunity cost which I think is very hard to account for. I think the dividend isn't clear profit in any sence.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

It's a word I use as a placeholder for other, less complimentary, words I cannot use on money saving expert.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

If the profits are directed to doing that, what's the likely impact on the share price?
surely it's just re-investing for a higher return:wall:

No idea on the share price impact, although I would imagine that dividends will need to be reinstated before the government sells off its stake.
Rebuilding the Capital base is more about making the business less risky and more able to withstand problems in the future, most certainly not about higher returns.US housing: it's not a bubble
