Just looking for others take on this...
We've deliberatly planned a break in the day between the breakfast and reception, part of this is to sit on the sofa's and mingle with the guests and part is to b*gger off on our own for a while to chill out and see eachother before the end of the day! (This will also give guests the chance to freshen up etc.) Also gives the venue a chance to get the room changed around for the disco.
What I am wondering is though, should we get some easy board games, cards, connect 4, snake and ladders etc so if people don't want to go and freshen up it gives them something to do? Our venue is a country hotel so there are lovely sofas and little cubby holes, it's very cosy and the bar area is just like a country pub so I don't see people sitting awkwardly at their tables, but just wanted to check?
I personally would love to sit in a pub and play games, but I don't think my shy OH would. Would you?

It's not just me who's done this then! We've also done the deliberate gap (I want some us time when I look pretty, not when my hair has fallen down and I'm too knackered to talk to him!). Trying to get a magician and caracaturist (within budget) to be there. Will also be doing the cheaper photo booth idea so I think this will cover entertainment enough. But I think those giant board games or silly, fun ones will be great, gets everyone talking too!

Thanks for your reply, I don't really want to spend as much on it as that, but good to know the games will be ok.Bump due 22nd September0

If you're having a break then gicing your guests something to do is a good idea.
I'm thinking of having something similar to keep my guests occupied while we're doing the photos.
If your break is going to be quite long, it might be worth giving your guests a heads up (either in the invite, or on some sort of "order of service") so they know before hand, incase they're unsure as to how long they can nip off to freshen up for etc.0 -
It's not a massive affair in the day and everyone knows about the break! Just want to make sure people aren't bored!Bump due 22nd September0

Im having board games between service and evening reception. Car boots are a great place to get them, the latest one I got was a brand new twister for £1

Hi Hayley - sounds like a good idea to me, but dont spend too much in case people just sit around chatting or fancy a break themselves. Might be worth checking with your venue if they have any games themselves as some places do. Its a good idea to keep people occupied while photos are going on as it could be boring for guests. I have been to some weddings where people end up watching the football or rugby - which usually goes down quite well !! :rotfl::rotfl:We got married 17th April 2010 !! A wonderful day with my wonderful husband !! :T0
