This happened yesterday, I would have posted it then but me keyboard is playing silly !!!!!!s. My vibrating battery for me mobile has bust too! Grrr!! One thing after another!!!! OK, here's what happened yesterday in the space of a few hours. I don't know if I'm making progress or wasting time.
1. Capital One
I wrote a few weeks back to reclaim charges - or actually to receive a breakdown of all charges received since 2002. They wrote back saying
'I'd like to reduce the fees we've added to your account to £12. I've refunded £96 to your account. You also asked me to remove the default, we have to record accurate information with CR agencies including late payents and defaults. As your default was recorded correctly I can't remove this...'
That's rubbish, I told them that I wanted to avoid a default and thet said that they would call me to sort something out, it was a while ago so I can't remember the whole situation, but they never called. The debt has also been passed to a DCA, so I can't access the £96, even though I'm entitled to more.
2. Amex
Situation as above.
'Amex maintains that our charges are fair and are avoidable by complying with the T&Cs of our agreement. We consider your account to be cancelled correctly as you did not adhere to the T&Cs therefore we are unable to amend the credit history'.
3. Halifax Phonecall Harrasment
They kept calling around 15 times a day, even after telling them the situation and not to keep calling me. I picked up the phone yesterday evening about to tear their heads off and the guy was understanding. Told me the situation, what we both need to do, he was the only one who could comprehend that I am with Payplan and he just said that they need the expenditure sheet. So that will be sorted shortly.
4. Halifax Representative
I hadn't payed my loan for a while, they posted me a 'We will be visiting you on 23rd Aug' slip. Called the number, told them that I'm with Payplan, that I'm out on the 23rd, and even if I was in I wouldn't answer the door, so save your time. They were OK about it I guess.
5. Council Bin Situation
Some of you may know that my local council crushed my bin a few months back as it was green not black!! They now want £50 for a new one. I wrote a few weeks back saying that I want a free new bin or else I would take them to court. I called them yesterday and the awful scrote of a woman on the other end was like
'Who did you address it to?'
'Er, Waverley Council suprisingly'
'Well there's 400 of us here'
'Well you'd better find out which one of the 400 have got it then'
They put me through to Environmental Health, said they would look for the letter and call back. Nowt back yet.
ARGH!!!!! I'm a simple man, I want a simple life, why is everything against me!!!!

have you looked at https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk for information on other cases being made against Amex and Capital one?
Bin problem sounds absurd, how petty.0
