OH kindly made "bean stew" last night, basically it's a mixture of adzuki and cannelini beans, with onions, mushrooms, tomatoes and the remainder of a bacon joint diced, plus whatever else happens to be around. I sometimes add a teaspoon of black treacle to it. OH knew this, so added a spoonful.... a tablespoon! It was edible, but hard going.
I want to use the leftovers to make a soup for tonight, so what can I do to tone down the treacle flavour?

Vinegar would counteract the sweetness but might be a little too tart ..... maybe some basalmic vinegar if you have it? Or maybe some pepper ..... or both!I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0

I'll take a bit out and see what balsamic does to it, good thought! There's loads of pepper in there already, think I might chuck a load of peppers and celery in to bulk it up and dilute the flavour.
I'll let you know how it goes....0 -
I would bulk it up with some more veg another tin of tomatoes and then if its too much, freeze some.Pawpurrs x0

Good Idea Pawpurrs - Tinned Toms are acidic & actually need sugar or similar to bring out their flavour!!I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0
