Delinquent is used when you effectively disappear, ie you move address, don't inform them and they cannot find you.

Strange as this account was defaulted and then terminated. The DN was defective and I accepted their unlawful recession.

I have not heard from them since. I have not moved address either. Very strange.
  • Debilde was it a RBS/Natwest account, they seem to use delinquent as a term for late, short or non-payment, I have to say I was quite insulted!!!! I am a very respectable old lady, fancy calling me delinquent??

Delinquent is pretty bad news to be on your credit report. If you think it is not correct I would at least attempt to get it removed, otherwise your chance of getting future credit could be hampered.

If you never went AWOL or ceased to pay an outstanding debt then I would think you had a right to complain about the use of it.

  • really Tixy, I thought it was just their terminology, we've been joking about it over on Nat's thread in diaries as quite a few of us have been called delinquent by RBS!!! We're all on DMPs but not unfindable, I haven't moved in 23 years so really finadable/ They've defaulted and terminated me now, should I still be worried???
    thanks for your help

    Hmmm PDD

I'm not sure now you've said that. Having looked over on experian's FAQs I can see no reference to 'delinquent' at all. So now I'm wondering if I'm confusing it with goneaway (GAIN). Maybe someone else can shed more light as I'm now worried I've given duff information.

It means date of last payment:
Credit accounts that were paid over 30 late days from the due date. This can be 30, 60, 90+ days. This will affect your credit score but more so if the delinquent was less than two years.
    Awaiting Inspiration......................
  • Sorry Smudge Am I being thick? What does that mean? Oh wait a minute does it mean its worse if it is more recent???

    who writes this stuff??

No problems for hijacking, nice to hear from all people and their views.

I stopped paying when the defective DN was served and then they terminated the account. I now just owe the arrears but they don't want to respond to me. Just wondered why they updated with that status and yet they have not registered the default.

It at least gives me more ammo for my counter claim for damages.
