My ford credit agreement is due to finish this month (hurrah) The payments are usually £135 per month, which I can just about afford. However the last one is £213.90. I can't afford to pay that amount in one payment, I've just rung Ford Credit thinking that as I've never missed a payment in the 4 years I've had the agreement they would be able to help. They've told me that there is nothing they can do to help me because it "is the last payment they can't spread the payment over 2 months" I was then advised to cancel the direct debit & then ring them back after it has fallen into their collections side. When I asked what would happen then I was told "don't know as there's nothing we can do about spreading the cost as its your last payment"
Great. So no help at all from Ford after 4 years of faithful service!! Anyone got any advice?!

It should be written in your original contract what your final payment would be. Not like you haven't had long enough to save for it. Can you not borrow £80 from someone?

Yes thank you it is in my contract - the one I signed 4 years ago. You're right I should've paid more attention and checked the contract everyday of that 4 years to make sure I was keeping up. And unfortunately I don't have the luxury of anyone I could borrow £80 off, I'll think of something. Sell something on ebay maybe.

You REALLY don't want to drop into arrears on your final payment after all this time.

Sacrifice something else, £80 may seem a lot, but on the grand scheme of things you are risking, it is nothing.

Thanks Chr15 - I'll see what money I can move around, I'll use my food budget to pay for it & then try & re-coup the food money further into the month. You're right I can't fall into arrears now I'm free of it this month :)

blimey, Malky was only offering advice there is no need to be so rude.

I hope you get it sorted, but if you spoke to ford credit in the same tone and sarcasm you used on your reply above iam not suprised they declined to help you.

Didnt seem particularly rude to me, but the same words can be interpreted differently I suppose.

I agree with others - no point in spoiling everything over a payment that was known about since the outset.

I'd like to say well done to the EMZ, for paying ontime for the past 4 years. :T

So many people come here having fallen behind on payments, quite a few by their own fault, so it's nice to see someone who has kept to their part of the bargain.

Shame they can't do anything to assist you, but like others say don't fail on the final payment. Just think in a couple of months, you'll have more money, so maybe you can treat yourself 1/ for paying up fully and 2/ for going without this month to make the final payment.

    Well done again.

I agree and was about to say the same.

Typical reply from someone who gets told something they don't want to hear :rotfl:

    PS
Can you not get say a £100 overdraft from your bank to tide you over? You'll be able to pay it off no problem the following month.

Thanks for all the replies guys. And thanks Fozmcfc I'm getting there slowly!

And in response to my 'rude & sarcastic' reply to Malky - I didn't feel there was any offering advice in that reply, just a sarcastic "not like you didn't have enough time to save for it" I tend to treat people with the same tone they treat me. Having said that the idea of an small overdraft might work so thanks for that one :)

I appreciate that alot of people come on here having made mistakes & all they want is advice, not to have people judge them for the bad mistakes they have made.

I'll make sure I have the money to make this final payment then celebrate with a cup of tea :) Thanks again everyone
