Very old debts

Hi
Not sure whether I am in the correct forum or not, but I know some kind person will direct me if necessary.
This is not actually about myself. I support murder victim families as a volunteer and understandably, debts come up. Generally, it is not usually a problem and if necessary I get involved on order to establish a reconciliation.
I am currently supporting a young mum, who suddenly received a letter from Capquest. Having obtained 3rd party authority from her, I established that it relates to a credit card going back to 2001/2002. I was so flabbergasted at the date I forgot to make a note of it! The amount involved is not huge (about £1200), especially when you consider that there are costs in it somewhere. Also, because of circumstances, she should never have been given a card, just goes to show how desperate they were to give cards then.
Now, I think I read somewhere that this is statute barred, could someone confirm this and if so, where I can get a get stuffed letter to send them?

Check the Registry Trust for A CCJ, but 6 years after the CCJ they need and would be most unlikely to obtain court permission to pursue the debt.
The other factors are:
1. In 2001 ish the chance of a Credit card Consumenr Credit Agreement being legally complaint are small.
2. Assuming that she defaulted at this time, the chance of default letter being legally complaint are minimal. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
