Post Office Mortgage Approved

Hi,
We are buying a house worth £170K with a mortgage of £65K from the Post Office (our combined salary £65K). I am amazed how quick they are. We only applied seven days ago and already the survey has been done and I received a text (it all seems to be email/texts) that our Mortgage has been approved. Pretty impressive.
We are buying from folk going into rented (divorce) and the HIP was done only two weeks ago so those searches must be current. Our solicitor is quick and their's is a local firm so hopefully efficient.
The Post Office has not contacted us for payslips/bank statements etc. We have no debt. Our employers have not been contacted yet.
My question is do the Post Office not require the above paperwork and not contact employers. A little worry is that my wife has found better paid agency work near our new house. To confuse matters we are about to be kicked out of our rental (building works) with two months notice. She needs three months notice for work and would like to make a decision soon.
Any views on how long the purchase will take, and when/whether the Post Office pursue work references.
Thanks.
