Security clearance credit check

Hi all, I'm hoping somebody is going to be able to help me out here.....
I currently work shifts for my company and get paid near on £8k ontop of my annual wage as compensation. My company are now asking us to fill in SC security clearance documents, we already have the lower level but the SC involves me divulging all my financial debts and them performing a credit check.....
Basically from what I have read, if you are in debt (I am with CCCS with about 15k to pay off  ) then security clearance will not be granted because you could be open to bribes......
If I don't get the clearance I have been told I will be moved off shifts, I will not be able to afford to lose the shift allowance, I have less than £50 each month for entertainment for the family, obviously £8k is more than £50 a month.
We have allready cut everything down to the bone literally, I guess my question is, is there anything I can put on the clearance application to help or am I stuffed?

You need to have a frank discussion with your boss/ HR department about it.
Our employers recently introduced this for all new starters and random checks on existing staff (full credit checks, criminal record etc etc). The misses who also works for the same bank had been declared bankrupt by our employers but due to timescales it was no longer on her records but she was nervous about it too.
With ours many people have been turned down for jobs but only a couple of people were actually dismissed when the initial check was done - and of those none had discussed it with their line managers as we had been instructed to.All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

So I'm right to be worried then
I just can't win.
We ended up in debt because my partner had to leave work due to illness and her benefits don't come close to paying the bills and now my jobs at risk.....
Do people ever think about giving up and going without work.... sure seems easier at the moment :mad:0
