Anyone have a contact in Passport Office in Dublin - desperate!!

Hi everyone, long shot I know, but does anyone here have a contact in the Passport Office in Dublin. They aren't answering emails or answering phone.

I still haven't received my passport and I fly next week. Sent it in March, and yes I know I should have taken a note of the application number but I didn't. Eejit. I know.

If anyone can help I will send a gift!! Or if anyone knows I can land down with my travel details to prove I am flying, will that sway them at all?

Hi there

yes you can go down there and get it so long as you have travel details with you - the same happened to me a couple of years back when we were travelling to France and i completely forgot about a password for our then 11 month old daughter so had to go and get it on the day before we travelled - you need to be there very early to get near the front of the queue - whatever they say is the opening time get there 30 minutes before - I arrived at the official opening time and there were already loads of people in there.

if you've been ringing them at a certain time of the day eg afternoons, try mornings, I've had major hassle with the Irish Revenue, because of industrial action since Christmas they wont answer the phone in the afternoon, and I've finally got someone to sort out an 18 month old email query!!!!

He he! That typo made me chuckle! I have visions of a family arriving at the French passport control in an aura of secrecy, all wearing dark sunglasses, the dad leaning in to the officer and whispering "Ze password iz GRENOUILLE!"...I'm easily amused...:o

Don't expect to get it on the day you visit though.

I had to bring proof of travel down on a Friday afternoon (was travelling the following Wednesday) and was told that I would have to call back for it on the Tuesday!

Make sure that you have the travel docs AND a form of photo ID with you, as they'll want that to confirm who you are.

And the coffee shop around the corner from the office appears to be the cheapest to use! You can go for a quick dander around once you've collected your ticket inside the door.

Yep, Bingo - I had the same thing a couple of years ago. I had sent a church issued marriage certificate for my change of surname - it might sound stupid but their wording said "civil" marriage certificate and I just didn't understand what that meant. I used post office express and they didn't pick up on it either. I discovered the mistake a week before Christmas and I was flying on 2nd January so I had to drive to Dublin with the new marriage cert and proof of travel on the 18th and then back again on 22nd to pick up passport. Poor santa was worn to a frazzle! :rotfl:
