First Time Buyer mortgages query

Hi everyone
Newbie fairly green with all things finance related here, so please be gentle!!
My partner and I are starting to think about buying our first home together. Whilst she hasn't owned a property before, some years ago I took over an existing mortgage from a property I inherited from my father. That property has since been sold and thus the mortgage is no more, and has been for some 4-odd years.
I suspect I know the answer already but what I want to know is, can we still qualify for a 'First Time Buyer' mortgage (not having bought together previously) or does my previous mortgage involvement preclude us?
If the latter, would my girlfriend's lack of property ownership give us any kind of assistance/benefit/deal, or are we facing bog standard mortgage offers all round?
Grateful for any thoughts and advice, thanks to one and all in advance.
