Applying for another mortgage?

Can you apply for another mortgage product whilst having a mortgage offer? I have had my mortgage offer for some time and recently got a pretty big pay rise, which may mean because of the different multiples used by lenders I may now get a better deal elsewhere. However, I do not want to jeopardise what I already have.

Nothing to stop you - check though that you wouldn't be charged any fees etc.

I was wondering about this myself, we too have a mortgage offer through, but have seen a better deal with a different bank. Was wondering, if you did apply for another mortgage deal, and if that fell through, could you then still go with the previous mortgage offer?

Yes you could as long as the original offer was still valid.
Again the caveat about checking if any fees will be payable.

There are a few questions like this popping up. Are the lenders being more tolerant again?

Anyway I have an AIP, survey carried out and now waiting on a formal offer.

We have been 'offered' a potential cheaper alternative. Is it the norm that we will need to get the survey done again or would they normally accept the one that was carried out by another lender?

You would need another survey and have to pay for it !plus fees for new deal and any fees you might have to pay for mortgage you dont take.
