Never posted a comp.....

I have been using the mse site daily for a number of months now and have had some great wins but I have never managed to find a competition that isn't already on the board. It isn't for want of trying, I am constantly looking for new comps but someone always beats me to it. It has made me appreciate more then ever the hard work and time that some members spend finding and posting comps, and I always post thanks but I am quite surprised to see that the number of people who view each competition is usually quite a lot larger than the number of people who thank the op's.
I know we don't always enter each comp we view but that doesn't mean we can't still thank the poster. I know these people who post don't do it for the thanks but it would be nice if everyone who viewed or entered took just an extra second to thank them. :)

I never find the comps quick enough either! Think I have managed to find 2 in the last 2 or 3 years I have been doing this!
Aim to win in 2013 - a holiday somewhere nice, New York break, treats for family & friends & some cash would be lovely!!!

I was thinking the same thing myself today about the numnber of views compared to the thanks. If I'm doing comps by end date I don't go into comps that I don't want to enter but if I'm doing them from date posted I always thank regardless if I enter or not.

I know what you mean by finding a comp that's not posted - I think I've found one in 3 months:eek:.

Got to agree with you Erin, always surprises me as well the number of views compared to the number of thanks, I always thank as well, apart from being polite and appreciating the effort involved in posting it's also the only way to keep track of what comps I've entered. Also makes me wonder how the people that don't thank keep track without double entering???? :)

  • If you are not logged in, ie a guest, you can view all the threads, but you haven't got the ability to thank. That is why the view count will always be higher than the thanks count. I don't do it for the thanks. They don't convert into anything, ie nectar points or vouchers :) (if they did, that would be different), but I get a huge buzz when some1 wins something from one of my posts. That is thanks in itself. Off to search for some comps. I haven't found a new one in, let me think, about 5 minutes :):)

hi, when i first joined up with the comps boards (even though i'd been on several other comps sites) i too was surprised at the viewing figures as oppsed to the thanks, but realised that there's loads of lurkers enter the comps without signing in, also some keep spreadsheets so do it that way to keep a check on their comps entered, personally i find it easier to thank the op for taking the time to find/share the comp & keep track of which i've entered :)

I agree with Korky and Plush. I started out just viewing and entering, just to see if I would actually win. Once I started winning, I then signed in and started thanking. Now I am totally addicted. I find comps to post from actually agreeing to have emails from the comp providers. I regualarly read and delete about 100 emails a day during weekdays. Am getting tired of this now though, so most of the comps I post are down to timing when 1 ends, another is due. Good Luck.
ps. Nectar Points for thanks is a fantastic idea Plush ;)
