Hi, this is probably a silly question so apologies in advance . . .
When a letting agent asks for a bank reference is it the same as a credit check or is it more to ascertain the affordability? Is a full credit check always done by letting agents?

It can be one of two things.
Either your bank writing a letter stating that, from your banking history, they see no reason why x amount of rent per calendar month is a problem.
Or
A series of 6 months banking statements. This shows an awful lot about your general way with money and will demonstrate rental payments leaving and wages coming in.
The agent may run a credit check too.0
