Cat Poo!

Options
Morning all,

Well, the OH decided to spend the night over at mine for a change and left his old cat alone but in the kitchen. It seems the said "old" cat decided to do something approaching the lines of Mission Impossible throughout the night.

The OH has gone home to find the cat has managed to open the doors to the kitchen, living room and bedroom and has left a nice trail of poo. This stretches from the couch to the nice white carpet in the bedroom!:eek:

The OH is currently threatening to string the cat from the nearest lampost in a revenge style attack. However, I have said don't worry, I can get this out! So, I am pleading with you to help save the cat from being turned into a rug. How on earth am I going to get cat poo (and wee!) out of the carpet and the couch? Any help would be really appreciated. I have some White Wizard from Lakeland and some Ace bleach for starters.

Thanks Penny, I will have a nose. I have to try anything to save a cat execution! I wouldnt mind but he is normally such a good boy and is blind as a bat so just how the hell he managed to open so many doors is beyond me!

Oh bless him, poor old cat. Ours have had the odd accident (although more often hairballs in horrible places), it's hard not to be cross with them even though you know it's not really their fault.

Maybe try scrubbing with some biological washing powder and hot water?

I use 1001 pet stain remover on my carpet for ferret poo and wee when they have an accident. It is really a 'spot' stain remover, but can be used for larger areas with a bit of elbow grease... I buy it in Wilkos, but I think I have seen it in supermarkets too.

Edited to add: if it can deal with ferret mess, it can deal with cat poo!
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!

    Hi there,

Biological Washing Powder great or Urine-off to Clean.

If the smell is still v strong its possible you've missed a bit. We had a similar prob, was about to bin carpet then tried a UV Black Light. Bought A torch onlight and shone on the carpet (In the dark). The Ultra Violet light will show up the Cat Pee (not sure about Poo) A tiny bit we missed was causing the stink!

Vicky Halls is great for Kitty Issues will find her online at vickyhalls.net

We have a anxious cat, doesn't do well with Change, used to pee, scratch wallpaper if we stayed away had visitors etc.

Likely this has just been an accident but if not, Our cat has been fantastic/less anxious since we started using the Feliway Diffuser.

Good Luck hope you have a Fragant Weekend!:)

Yep, definitely try using a solution of biological detergent and warm water to clean up the mess and once dry give the patches a going-over with a cloth soaked in some vodka or any other spirit to hand. That should get rid of any scent and prevent the cat going back to the spots to "revisit" them.

Poor puss! I really wouldn't want it to be strung up from a lamp-post.
