Council tax rebanding - house price data pre 1995

Hi all
My house is in a close of forty essentially identical houses which were built around 1970. However we are surrounded on one side by Victorian houses and on the other by a 1930's mock Tudor garden estate with conservation status.
I analysed the sale prices for houses in the close back to 1995 and sent it to the valuation office, saying that I thought we should be in the band below. The Listing Officer has agreed to review the band "using records in my posession". I think that might result in an unfair outcome for us, as a result of the neighbouring houses, so I would like to get hold of actual sale prices for the period 1990-1994.
Does anyone know if it is possible to get this information and, if so, how?
I am a director of the management company for the close, so I would be willing to go to quite a bit of trouble to get this information, eg going somewhere and spending a couple of days going through old files, as rebanding would add up to a lot of money for all forty houses.
Thanks very much for any help or advice you can give me!

The VOA have the most comprehensive sales records in the country. Every time a property is sold the VOA are notified of date and price. If there were sales in your close in 91 then the VOA are likely to have the details. If no sales your bands would be based on sales evidence of other 1970s houses in the area, not the adjoining mock Tudor or Victorian houses.
1995 prices were considerably lower than 1991, so these figures are of little help. As far as I am aware apart from Land Registry and possibly Stamps Office, only the VOA has 1990 - 1994 price details. Prices held by the VOA are not available to the general public although if a valid appeal is made against a CT band, they are allowed to disclose relevant sale price information. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
Thank you, that's very reassuring! I feel much more confident now - as there are 40 houses in the close, it is very likely that there will have been sales in 1991 as one or two are sold most years.
Thanks again!
