Advice needed please?

My partner has a £10,000 loan with Nationwide which was due to finish in August this year,he had never defaulted and the bank always took out the money at the end of the month once my o/h was paid, during last year the bank decided to try and take money out a few days before he got paid(even though they knew the money wouldn't be there)then they would charge us for it,then a few days later take the money out(once his wages were in the bank),they also didn't take the scheduled payments out at all,we would ring them and goto his branch but this carried on for several months(which put him in arrears) and after much moaning at Nationwide they accepted it was purely human and computer error and it was their fault, they paid him a small amount of compensation £200,which he accepted(as we were in need of the money with a child under 1 to feed),since then he moved his bank account but still pays Nationwide their monthly agreed payments,so we are hoping the loan will still be finished this year? The problem we have is,when this all blew up with Nationwide he tried to apply for several loans with various companies, not realising he was doing his credit rating damage, the problem was he got turned down for all of them due to the buisness with Nationwide(as the account was running in arrears still).Anyway yesterday he had an appointment with his new bank(which he has been with for 6 months)it was their idea to set up the meeting, saying they would review his account etc and see if there was anything else they could offer him, when the lady he saw looked at his account, she said it was marked,so the problem with Nationwide is still hanging over his head, what we want to know is how long will this continue for, till the loan is paid or for years to come?Any advice is most welcome please.

if Nationwide admitted to being at fault for the loans mishaps, then they will also be able to rectify the credit report information. Get them on the case - its their !!!!-up so therefore their responsibility.
