Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Birmingham Childrens Hospital caring for my tiny and very poorly grandson who was born at 29 weeks. Thanks to them he is getting a little stronger every day.:A:A:A

I think its a wood sandpiper. the common sandpiper is a much lighter brown colour.0

I realise this is a bit late, I've only just seen the post. I think you are all wrong. I'm a pretty keen birdwatcher, and a warden of a National Nature Reserve. I don't think it's a Sandpiper at all, it's quite similar though, as for Least Sand, very unlikely and it's too big although this is hard to tell from a photo.
Clue: I'm not smooth
I'd even go as far as saying it's a 1st winter bird.0 -
