Yes, what a pain it is, for the last few years my chest comes out in this awful rash if I dont use Piz Buin Allergy, its the only thing that works, now I noticed the other day I had covered my chest in my cream but now my face seems to have the same rash (I look gorgeous) so i dont know if its a bit of eczma on my face or what, dont fancy having to out that thick cream on my face though, can anyone help I have googled loads and it just seems to say allergys to sunscreens.....

I would go and see your GP. I had a friend who was diagnosed with extreme sun sensitivity and she was prescribed a Roc sun screen for her body and one for her face. You'd find out if your face rash is caused by the sun or something else and the doc will have a list of dermatologist recommended sunscreens too.
It's only a game

If im ever in the sun too much i think i get prickly heat. What ever it is it gives me the most intense itching sensation where by i cant actually do anything but have cold flannels put onto my skin, with air conditioning on and rubbing the cream i have onto it. Its absolutly awful.
But now i take a tablet and its alot better! I would go to the GP and see how they can help you0 -
I am the same actually red rash around neck and constantly itching it until I apply something, its really annoying too.I am using Ambre solaire after sun uv sensitive high 30 SPF cream and that helps my skin but when it wears off I itch again.

don't google and self-diagnose - see your GP! worth sorting out asap before the summer hits...:happyhear0

I had this and used P20 which stopped it, I used this for a couple of years but I seem to be OK now and for several years I've been able to use any suncream and been fine.0

Sounds like prickly heat to me. I get it on my chest and throat. It's an allergy to either UVA or UVB rays, I can't remember which.
You can get anti-histamines for this from the doctor but I don't bother as I don't go out in it much.4.30: conduct pigeon orchestra...0 -
THere was a topic about this ie allergy to sun, in the program Embarrassing Bodies - you might like to check their website on this. and the lady was seen to by a specialist who treated her with sessions in the sunbed - it was a like a capsule where the lady just stood inside, and she was taking some steroids too. the sunbed was to give her the uv rays to see how much her body was effected after taking the steriods. i think it would be better to ask your gp to be referred to a specialist.0

Hi
I thought That i suffered from prickly heat for the last 9 years. Every spring when my skin was 1st exposed to the sun i would come out in this rash, mainy on my chest arms and lower legs/feet. It is a very red and itchy rash and would appear on my skin about 30 mins after sun exposure. As the summer went on i never got this rash and did think this a bit odd. Anyway after looking on the net on tips on how to avoid prickly heat i stumbled on some info that totally described my symptoms and i now think what i have got is polymorphic light eruption.(PMLE). Prickly heat is a sweat rash and usually occurs when sweat pores block. This rash is usually found in creases of the skin i.e backs of knees, waist, armpits and on the back. The pmle rash only occurs when the skin is exposed to the sun but for prickly heat, skin doesnt have to be exposed to the sun. I have just bought piz buin allergy sun cream to try. I hope it works as this rash really does get you down and is so unsightly. There is lots of info on the net about PMLE just google it.Mortgage free 25/9/2019 8years and 7 months early 😁😁😁0 -
Yes, this is what I had, I didn't get it in the classic PH areas either, mainly on my tummy, chest and legs,oh and tops of my feet. I think I must have grown out of it.0

Thank you for this, my daughter suffers from exactly what you have described, I had no idea this even existed so again, thank you, she has had this since the age of about 5 and each year it has got slightly better (she is nearly 15 now) but its still there, doctors had diagnosed Eczema and Prickly Heat, no treatment worked except something we bought in Spain that you cant buy over here or online despite me trying, it was a few years ago though. I'll have a google, good luck with it and well done for finding out what it is:).Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0
