I have the last Christmas card my beloved maternal grandmother wrote to us in 1966. My late DM always had it out and since she died in 2021 I still put it on my mantlepiece. I don't send Christmas cards so don't receive many (thank goodness) so the one from my grandmother takes pride of place.I also have £50.00 note that my DFather had in his wallet when he died in 1997. It was his emergency money, all folded up and in with his travel card. I gave it to my oldest nephew which he has kept despite the note being discontinued. I have a new £50.00 note in my handbag too.I know it's not a competition!18

I have the pencil case which belonged to my late husband. It was give to him by his grandfather in 1957 when he passed the 11+ and still contains a pencil, rubber, fountain pen and an old £1 note in a brown envelope which grandpa said to keep in there in case he missed the bus.
I'm another who reuses wrapping paper, gift bags etc.
This year whilst decluttering I found some old maps - not fancy ones and not that old. I have cut up and used some of them as birthday wrapping for nieces and nephews. One set of parents said the child spent longer looking at the map than the book inside. I suspect the other parents just continue to think I'm ..................... ? but I really don't care - the children will at least remember meLove living in a village in the country side20 -
If anyone wants to have a look at old maps for free then almost all the old Ordnance Survey maps are on the National Library of Scotland website, as well as some even older ones. They have them for all of Great Britain, but I have never checked whether they have them for Ireland and Northern Ireland, or indeed any other countries. Can be very interesting seeing how your area developed over the years.Live the good life where you have been planted.

@Elisheba I'm using them - OS 6" to the mile - to find old farms etc that either no longer exist or have been renamed, for my genealogical research. The fact that you can fade from the old maps to a current one is unbelievably useful.
It's a fantastic resource. 😁Aiming for a Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget

A friend came round today and was highly amused by my frugality. I was pegging out socks etc on one of those plastic things with pegs hanging off it. One of the pegs snapped off, so I went into the cupboard, took out a jar of replacement pegs i saved from the previous one ( when it broke) and replaced the broken peg.Still got 9 replacement pegs left before i need to buy a new unit! I used to buy new hangers when i had several broken pegs. Not any more.19

I got sick of the plastic ones breaking and like you I kept the pegs. I've since bought 2 big metal ones and keep indoors when not in use12

I've got two of these, both with a few broken pegs on them. It never occured to me to combine them into one full one - good as new!14
