Virgin Olive Oil - the most money saving ingredient in your kitchen

Options
This is next to free and will save you a bunch of money! :j

You already have most of these items at home right now, no need to get them from Boots / Superdrug / Body Shop...

You can use virgin olive oil in the following ways:

- Body & Foot Scrub - Mix some olive oil with brown sugar until it's the consistency of something you'd buy in the shop - then rub all over wet skin. Then rinse off!

- Body Oil in the shower- Use olive oil as a body oil iin the shower instead of expensive things like Dove with oils. You can do this in the shower, massage gently then rinse off, or rub sparingly onto dry skin. Then use your normal shower gel etc.

- Facial treat - Olive oil can be used sparingly on your face as a moisturiser.

- Eye Make up remover - A few drops of olive oil onto cotton ball then dab gently around eyes.

- Add it to your favourite moisturiser to make it even more hydrating

- Hair conditioner - use it as an intensive hair conditioner, then rinse off after 10 minutes. Probably ends only as the roots are always naturally oily (unless you siffer from dry scalp, in which case a light olive oil massage may help).

- Last but not least, olive oil is great for bringing up the shine on stainless steel items!

This costs next to nothing and is organic / environmentally friendly (uses less packaging) and Money Saving.

Costs - as little as around £0.02p a month if you use ingredients you already have. More if you use lots obviously - OR could be under £0.50 per month if you buy 1 new bottle of virgin olive oil & 1 bag brown sugar JUST for this beauty purpose (say at a total cost of £5.50) - could last a year or more.

Still a bargain - try it just ONCE and see for yourself!

and for me it's FREE :T as my partner works in a edible oils factory and bring home the bottles that have been opened for testing (which means 1tsp has been batch tested by my partner)

and it's not just olive oil, I can get almost any oil

    thanks for the tips though!!:o

You might want to be careful using it round your eyes - it can block your tear ducts.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

    I agree.

For my foot scrub though I use it with Sea Salt.

Yes - hence mentioning you should only use a few drops onto a cotton ball and gently removing make-up - please no-one put it actually in your eyes!

Sea salt sounds great - will try that one too - it's just that I have brown sugar at home and not sea salt...

Lucky leni - you must be able to get some lovely oils - I'm jealous!

I put some on my hair and leave it for a bit before washing it. It works really well as a hair conditioner.
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.

Excellent idea - although maybe best just on the ends?

I use mine up to the scalp because I have dry scalp and it keeps down scurf.
