removing felt tip from parquet floor

DS2 managed to get hold of a purple felt tip (left out by accident by DS1) and make his not inconsiderable mark on the lovely parquet floor in our rented house. Fortunately it was "normal" felt tip and not indelible marker.
DH went absolutely bananas  and was certain it wouldn't come out and we would have to get the floor professionally cleaned and restored, but I managed to find out from a helpful Industrial Chemist that felt tip can be removed from a parquet floor with Methylated Spirit (or surgical spirit). I was worried that it would take off the wax or whatever the sealant for the floor is and leave the ink, but the ink came off quite easily with a little bit of elbow grease, and the floor surface was unmarked and apparently unaffected by the solvent.
For felt tip on hard surfaces like wood furniture/wood laminate or parquet floors and so on, I can heartily recommend Meths - it works a treat, and reduced DH's blood pressure no end! :j
