Suggestions for children's event

Hi, In October we are holding a Toddle Waddle - basically a sponsored walk for Under 5's in aid of the meningitis Trust ( my brother in law died of meningitis when he was 12). we did the event last year and raised £800. What i need are ideas for companies that will donate fifty of anything for the goodie bags we provide. last year we had support from Organix, the Fire service, Argos and Sainsburys and rejections from Crayola, Robinsons, - actually most of the people we wrote to!. Anyone know of any generous companies who are likely to donate anything at all - no matter how small? I would be grateful for any ideas. Thanks

Have you tried Johnsons Body products to ask for free samples of suncream etc. You could also ask local children shops for discount vouchers giving 10% or more on any purchases.

Also contact your local council and ask to speak to their special events organiser. They might be able to give you some contacts and may also give you something like free swim tokens and balloons and pencils. Also try your police HQ, Fire dept and TA centre who might send an event vehicle.

I know from experience that the large supermarkets give nothing whereas local small shops are happy to give something.

What area are you in? I organised a teddy bears picnic on our local seafront about 10 years ago and I have a list of what local companies will donate stuff.

Nestle have always been generous at donating to my fundraisers. We got massive boxes filled with after eights. Hope this helps.

What area do you live in? This may be helpful in pointing you in the right direction.

  • Try going on the freebie board....if a company sends samples out for free try emailing them to ask for extras for your fundraising event.

Because they are willing already to send out samples there is more of a chance that you might end up with 50 :o)

    Hope this helps.
  • Thanks guys - soem great ideas. I live on the Isle of Wight and local companies have been good about donating tickets and stuff but i am hesitant to ask for 50 of anything!

I have found tesco quite helpful in the past. you need to be in their area and go to them with a letter on headed paper to be in with a chance.

We organised a Fun Run at work recently and Waitrose were very generous with drinks for the runners. Don't know if you have Waitrose on the IoW?
