Proof of income

Hi,

I'm starting a new job in a couple of weeks and my partner and I are pretty keen to buy a house. We're renting at the moment and have enough savings for a small deposit. Our outgoings are very low and our credit is good, the worst on my record is that I wasn't registered to vote until two years ago.

The problem is my partner is on maternity leave but has been made redundant and I've been self-employed for over a year earning very little (which is why I'm taking the job).

So, with a house we're in love with in mind my question is how much proof of income do I need? Will I need to wait 3 months to get 3 pay slips?
