More Invite Making!

We'd planned to make our invites from day one, but inspired by those of you on here who have also been busy crafting bees, I'm glad we did. I'm joining the clan now with our invites, which have finally been completed this week. I've had the card since November, but only recently have got into the making.
All the card was bought from PDA Card and Craft. I can't recommend them enough; I had to go back to them this week to buy some more card and enquired whether they could source me an A2 sized piece (not on their website) in a matching colour. They not only supplied the card, they rolled it and sent it out separately from the other items (no extra charge). Their customer service is brilliant.
Anyway, I digress. Now my love-in with PDA is over, I thought I'd do a quick set of pics (click to make 'em bigger, should you wish!)
The base card (burgundy, but it doesn't look it in this picture!), prior to folding:

Take some additional bits of card; 130x130mm silver, 120x120mm, 120x100mm, 120x80mm 'oyster' coloured card, and black velcro pads:

I used mount spray to glue the silver 130mm card, and stuck this onto the burgundy invite fold and fixed the velcro pads onto the top lip of the pocketfold:

In the meantime, I printed off the 120mm card with a design merely concocted in Word (I set the page size in Word to the size of the card). I used craft double-sided tape on the back:

The printed card was then glued onto the silver card.
Word was back in action again for the 100mm and 80mm cards. I decided to make the 100mm card the Directions card. I printed this on both sides but with a header so it would stand out when in the pocketfold:

The 80mm card was printed up as an RSVP card. To save paper and negate the need for guests to use an envelope, I decided at the last minute to print this double-sided and included our address on the back, so guests can pop a stamp on it and drop it in the postbox. Having said that, to save postage I have built a website with an online RSVP option and am encouraging guests to use that too.

Once all prints were completed, and the glue had set, we assembled the invites:

These are our evening invites; the day invites are very similar but with different wording on the cream main page, and the RSVP is slightly different (more wording).
The font used on the invites is the Angelina font which was free from dafont.com
The outside, with the monogram (another cream square glued onto silver card with our initials - distorted as I have a distinct initial!):

Do you think it needs anything else?
All that's left is a mail-merge of addresses onto sticky labels and they'll be affixed to the 140x140mm envelopes - and off they'll go!

Thats weird, just saw another PDA 'love in' topic on a wedding forum. That's 2 votes now! Lol.
Been looking at this seriously, do you mind me asking how much it worked out per invite?Green and White Barmy Army!0 -
I bought too much card, enough for 85 invites and I've made about 65 plus some prototypes.
The card (and envelopes) cost £75 (ish), velcro £5, and I've spent probably £10 on glues (spray mount isn't cheap), plus a printer cartridge to replace the one I used up at my parents' house (£5). £95 total plus my time. For the 65 I have ready to rock 'n roll in their envelopes, about £1.46 an invite. Not the cheapest, but I have spares so if I need more (if my mother finds more people to invite), that cost per invite will decrease (£1.11 if I make all 85)0 -
OMG Indiegirl you are soooo creative, this is exactly the type of invite I want to do but have no idea where to start (am not creative just practical i.e. creative if got instructions lol) how did you crease the card? did you get a template or somewhere which told you how big the pieces had to be ?? Any help you give will be very VERY gratefully received....
Pretty pretty please...Married the love of my life on 28th April 2011 :T

I bought the Keaykolor and Rives Pocketfolds 130mm pocketfold in burgundy. 85 cost me £35.70 before postage.
Becks: the card was bought pre-cut - I did cheat there I'll be honest. However I weighed up the costs of precut / prefolded card vs doing it myself, and decided it was easier (and only a fraction more expensive) to go with the precut stuff. Saved me oodles of time though.
If it's of any interest, I bought:
130mm pocketfolds from this selection
130mm silver from one of the many options in this selection (specifically these), ditto the 120x120mm cream from that section too.
120x100 and 120x80mm inserts chosen from this selection
The last two specifically say on my confirmation that they are pocketfold inserts.0 -
Looks like theyve changed all the colours, as that one doesn't appear to be available anymore!
Will have to contact them as I'm after a pearlescent white double sided card!Green and White Barmy Army!0
