Wedding / Travel Insurance - getting married abroad. Please help!

So we've booked to get married abroad this christmas and our main concern is if the flight is cancelled (say a technical fault or the airline being stupid) and they say they can't fly us for a few days then we'll miss our wedding and lose out on about £3000 of venue fee's etc.
We thought we'd look into insurance BUT every travel insurance (we've tried) won't cover us for the cost of the wedding (only flight and accomodation) and wedding insurance won't cover us if the flight is cancelled (for any reason).
Do these policies exist? We're starting to wonder whether we're just going to have to take the chance?

Most companies do a combined package for weddings abroad - the travel part covers the travel and the wedding part covers the outfits, rings etc.
Here are some I have found on the Net:

Ask for weddings abroad insurance - its how I found these on google.0 -
Thanks Horace thats great. Although Im concerned as they only seem to cover the cost of the dress etc. We have no dress / clothing bills. Our main concern is the venue. We've paid about £3000 which is NON refundable, and if we can't get there I'd like to know I can get that back!!
Rang a few wedding abroad insurance companies today and all said 'oh we cover if you cancel / die / fall ill. But if your flights are cancelled we don't' Which to me doesn't make sense??Green and White Barmy Army!0 -
hi - i can understand the frustration
wedding insurance would cover generally the wedding related events such as the obvious.... reception, dress, presents, rings, cancellation.... and transport. However transport is usually deemed as the transport related to the wedding cermony rather than travel to the country.
So, it sound like by covering yourself with travel insurance and wedding insurance you should be in as good a position as possible.
For some good wedding insurance companies try on google for something like "wedding-insurance-cover"

I think you're missing the point here. I think what OP is saying is this:
If she takes out wedding and travel insurance and the flight is cancelled her travel insurance will cover the cost of the cancelled flight but NOT the consequential losses of the venue having to be cancelled because they've missed the flight. Wedding insurance will also not cover this.
Or have I got myself mixed up?Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -
Thats the problem clearing_out_my_pockets!
Spoke to 3 more today who won't cover the cost of the ceremony if the flight is cancelled. They will cover the cost of my dress (not got one) and rings though! GREAT! lolGreen and White Barmy Army!0 -

These cover weddings abroad and I've just had a read of the cover and it appears to cover failure of transport causing a cancellation of the wedding.:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0 -

Even better I found a site which advises about wedding insurance for weddings abroad!!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0 -
E&L and Wedding plan won't cover us if flights are cancelled. When they say transport they mean the cars taking us to the ceremony, not the flights getting us into the country.
I'll keep trying!Green and White Barmy Army!0
