Just to keep me motivated - here are the things I have done since posting my SOA in July:
1. Cancelled Lensplan - saving £27.50 a month. I have enough lenses left to last me 3 months and enough solutions for a year (!). Lenses will cost me about £12 a month after that via the web with additional cash back via Quidco. So for the next 3 months the saving is £27.50 - after that, even with a 6 month check up and (eventually!) solutions - it will be at least £12.50 a month.
2. Cancelled hospital plan - saving £5.88 a month
3. Applied for a water meter - even at the most extravagant estimates for our water usage this will save us £36 a month (hopefully more!)
4. Changed buildings/contents insurance - got better cover with a saving of £61.49!
5. Reduced grocery budget from £200 a month to £160 - saving £40 a month
Total saving so far - £170.87 a month
Have also put 6 books on Amazon (1 sold so far) and 7 items on eBay - potentially making around £120 if they all sell. We're planning a car boot on Sunday - then will put whatever doesn't sell out on Freecycle!
Still on the "to do" list - mobile phones, car insurance, mortgage, income protection, dental plan, getting low rate deal for when 0% goes in November, subletting flat!
Thanks so much for all your help so far - you are all stars! (would put a thanks smiley but for some reason they aren't working on my machine here!)
